Judges

How the judges for the Sieger Show are selected:

  • The Breed Advisory Committee (BAC) is responsible for the Sieger Show, therefore they are the ones that suggest the judges slate for the event. The local co-hosting club for the Sieger Show has no part in the judges selection. The BAC's judges slate must pass final approval from the USA Executive Board.
  • The Committee Chairperson, our National Breed Warden, sends a request to the BAC members for suggestions on possible judges. A list is formed and sent out to the BAC members asking them to rank the SV judges in their order of preference and to do the same with the USA judges.
  • A judge in the top of the ranking order receives one point, the next judge receives two points, etc. So when all the votes are tallied, the judge with the least number of points is the judge that most BAC members have placed as their first choice.
  • The results of the vote create the list of judges to contact (in order) for availability. If the highest ranked judge in the list is not available then the next judge in the list is asked and so forth until the desired number of SV and USA judges are confirmed for that year.
  • As per USA Rules & Regulations, the USA Director of Judges will always judge the Performance Test.

This year we will have two SV judges and one USA judge in the rings. The senior SV judge will judge the Male Working Class, other male classes and the Progeny Group. The other SV judge will judge the Female Working Class, other female classes and the Kennel Group. The USA judge will be dispersed thoughout the classes. USA's Director of Judges will judge the Performance Test for the Working Classes.

Judge's Bio:

Born 21/9/57. Married to Petra . Son Julian, 13 years old.

I studied at the Fachhochschule Hagen 1975 - 1981 as Diplomverwaltungswirt for community and government.

I am a civil servant at the Government of Siegen-Wittgenstein. Since 1982 I have worked in the children's welfare office of the government 'Kreis Siegen-Wittgenstein'.

For the first 11 years I worked as guardian for adults with addiction or psychiatric problems. Since 1992 I was the head of the department of administration for children's welfare. From May 2000 to June 2002 I was the head of the department of finances of the government KREIS SIEGEN-WITTGENSTEIN. Since June 2002 I was in charge of the department of Law and Order, which is responsible for Firework and Rescue, Traffic and Immigration, Hunting and Fishing.

German Shepherd Dogs have been my life's companions since childhood. My grandfather always had a GSD. I got my first own GSD in 1978 and became a member of the SV Ortsgruppe Eiserfeld in Westpfalia.I started immediately as a helper in protection work, trained my own dog Jalk von der Edelweisbrücke (a sable) to SchH 3 and received the SV Goldmedal for dog handlers in 1983.

In 1981 I bought my first female, Leska vom Haus Gero and bred my first litter in 1984. Since that time I've bred more than 80 litters and presented my kennel group, von Fidelius, five times at the German Siegerschau -the year 1999 placed thirteenth.

My interest in breeding and handling dogs in shows gave me the opportunity to enter the judges 'education of SV in 1989. I received a lot of support from my mentor and friend, Richard Dexel from Hemer. In 1991 I finished the education and became a SV Judge for Confirmation.

Since 1996 I am Körmeister of the SV. I have judged more than 150 shows in Germany and abroad - for example, Siegershows Argentina, Peru, Mexiko, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Spain, Italy, Slovakia, Netherlands, Belgium, Ireland, Great Britain, South Africa, USA, Canada, Taiwan, Indonesia, and Australia.

In 2001 I had the great pleasure to judge the female class 12 - 18 months at the German Siegershow in Düsseldorf. With this hobby I have been lucky to meet some good friends all over the world and I am grateful that the best dog in the world is keeping us together.
