The 2006 USA Sieger Show will be here before we know it.
So get ready!

The United Schutzhund Clubs of America and the OG Wesconn Schutzhund Club are your hosts this year in Danbury, CT. This will be the first time that the sieger show is held in the New England area. So you may want to plan some extra time for site seeing while you're here.

Be sure to check out all areas of this site. Use the handy Site Map located at the bottom for easy navigation.

A few sections of the site are still under construction. Please check back often, especially as the show date gets closer. Thank you for your patience.

Check the Bulletins for important notices and updates.

Performance Test Practice: All Working Dog entries must sign up for their practice time with the official Sieger Show Helpers. Click here for more information.

If you have any questions, please email the Sieger Show Secretary, Margi Ross or our National Breed Warden, Karen MacIntyre. The Sieger Show Secretary does not work at the USA office, she is a volunteer in CA.

If you are entering a dog in the show, please make sure to check the Exhibitors Only section of the website for information.

If you are planning on attending the show (whether or not you're entering a dog), please make sure to check the Participants section of the website for information.

We look forward to seeing everyone in Connecticut this spring.

Connecticut is one of our nations smaller states, but don't let that fool you. Danbury is located within easy traveling distances to some of the best areas of interest the New England region has to offer. Click here for an interactive map with Danbury marked.

So why not take an extra day and enjoy some of the flavor of New England.

  • Have you ever been to the Big Apple? Manhattan is approximately one hour away with limitless activities to explore. (interactive map)
  • Or do you have a love of history? Boston is the heart of New England's heritage and is only a couple hours scenic drive from Danbury. (Interactive map) And a half hour south of downtown Boston is the birthplace of our country, Plymouth. (Interactive map)
  • Maybe you're more interested in visiting the coastline. Mystic is a historic seaport (located approximately 90 minutes from Danbury) (interactive map) which is home to an aquarium and many renowned charming Bed & Breakfasts and Country Inns.

2007 Sieger Show

Attention: The deadline for submitting bids to CO-host the 2007 Sieger Show is March 31, 2006. The Breed Advisory Committee must have time to review the bids before submitting them to the USA Executive Board for approval. We will announce the co-hosting club(s) and the location at the Judges & Breeders Reception on April 21st at this year's Sieger Show.

Minimum requirements for the bid to include:

  • host hotel which will accept dogs, have amble areas for dog relief stations, amble parking, banquet, restaurant, and bar facilities- negotiations may be in progress
  • stadium or stadium like venue (grounds must be built with very good drainage and be able to withstand very heavy foot traffic) - negotiations may be in progress
  • proposed date in the month of April approved by the National Events Committee
  • approval of the region's Regional Director of the club's intentions to act as CO-host for the show

Additional requirements to keep in mind:

  • The location for the show should be within reasonable driving distance to a major airport. This is crucial to the participation ability of people traveling with dogs. People will not mind having to drive one to two hours from the airport to the host hotel as long as the airport can accommodate the number of dogs that they wish to enter in the show. Remember that we have an increasing number of entries from other countries.
  • There must be enough "local" volunteers to handle the work requirements of the show.

According to the USA event rotation schedule, the 2007 Sieger Show is scheduled to be in the Central Zone. Bids will be considered from all three zones. Bids from the Central Zone will be reviewed first and if a viable bid is not attainable from that zone, any other bids submitted will be reviewed.

Send bids to Karen MacIntyre.

************************************************************************************************

Is your club interested in CO-hosting a sieger show with USA? We really need to get ahead in our planning, so bids are being accepted for the 2007 sieger show and future years. For more information, please contact Karen MacIntyre or Margi Ross

According to our rotation schedule, the 2007 sieger show should be in the Central Zone. If the central zone does not produce a viable bid, then the bidding is opened up to the other zones. Realizing the size of our three zones, it is beneficial for clubs within a zone that are relatively close to one another to get together to submit a bid. We are trying to encourage clubs to get together so the expense and work load will be more evenly distributed.

Some requirements:

  • The show is to be scheduled in April each year. The date will need to be approved by the NEC (national events committee). You should make sure there are no major conflicts with the date (daylight savings beginning, other major events, or Easter).
  • USA is the show host, but needs a local club to CO-host and coordinate local tasks. In 2003 (the first year of USA hosting the show) the local club choose to let USA have all of the show proceeds. In the following years, the local clubs did and will receive a percentage of the proceeds. Therefore, your club's intention should be to help put on a great event for the participants, not to make money.
  • The local club needs to have experience hosting conformation shows, at the regional level at least. There is a lot of work for the local club to do especially the weekend of the show.
  • The local club should have people that are organized and goal orientated. And there must be enough local people to work the event. The week of the show is full of long, hard days of much work, so the more people to share the work, the better off we all are.
  • The local club's Regional Director must approve of the club's desire to be CO-host
  • All bids must be submitted to the Breed Advisory Committee for approval. The BAC will present their recommendations to the Executive Board who will select the CO-host club from the submitted bids.
